This was one of the first paintings in which I used a pure and brilliant red, a color rarely used in my early days as a painter, but one that I now love to experience. The red underpainting sets the underlying foundation and vibration to our root chakra, which grounds and connects us to Mother Earth. I painted this image to express how utterly delightful it felt on one of the first, warm sunny spring days... after a long, grey Oregon winter.
