 Early summer 2002 ~ I was “on fire” for the month of June, creating 6 or 7 paintings in a flury of creative energy. All of these paintings were inspired by the elegant, exaggerated and simplified line and form found in African art. In this painting, a green Butterfly Maiden draws energy from the sun, which flows out her hands. Green is the color of our heart chakra, and in her heart there is the West African symbol for strength surrounded by golden sun flames. Her animal friends, deer (love) and hawk (messenger), stand with her, all gazing at the OM symbol of Oneness floating in her wing.
