Hopi Water Woman
acrylic and oil on panel, 12" x 16" © 2000 Mara Friedman $800

This painting is a sister to “Water Wisdom”. Done at the same time with the same influences ~ New Mexican pottery, Hopi, O’Keeffe, Fall, Water, Change... The maiden wears her hair in Hopi butterfly whorls and she almost floats thru the autumn mists. I feel a bit of a Japanese influence also in this painting, in the delicate tones as well as in her clothing.
