This early work hangs in my home and I am always soothed when I gaze upon her. There is a glow that emanates from this painting that expresses the peace found in our transition from life to death. Two angels sit quietly at the passageway. Rising above them, the white dove of Spirit awaits our entry with outstretched wings and open heart. When I painted this, I was deeply studying the exquisite artist Frida Khalo... you can see her influence in the Mexican dress of the women and the birds on their brow.
